The Aberfeldy Health & Wellbeing Centre hosted the NHS London Anchor Strategy and Change Network on Tuesday 19 November. This important gathering brought together a wide range of colleagues from across the London health and care sector, to discuss strategy, transformation, and policy roles in relation to the delivery of local change programmes and corporate anchor strategies.
Participants had the chance to explore the local area during an informal walking tour of Aberfeldy Village. Dr Phillip Bennett-Richards, GP at Aberfeldy Practice and Clinical Director of the Tower Hamlets CEPN, shared the local story of collaboration and community engagement in Tower Hamlets, shaping the area’s healthcare landscape.
Andrew Attfield, Associate Director of Public Health at Barts Health NHS Trust, spoke about widening participation through extended placement schemes, emphasising the importance of increasing opportunities for residents to gain experience in the health sector. One of the highlights of the evening was local resident Junaid’s contribution of his experience of accessing the Project Search initiative, an employability programme supporting young people with Autism and Learning Disability. Junaid found the experience invaluable, resulting in him securing long-term employment in a local GP surgery.
Dr Rachel Roberts, Primary Care Transformation Dean for NHS England London, closed the event: “It was a really fantastic event and I want to say an enormous thank you to you both but also every single contributor - such amazing stories from all your colleagues and the members of the community themselves and thank you so very much”
The NHS London Anchor Strategy and Change Network continues to play a vital role in fostering collaboration and driving progress toward healthier, more sustainable communities.
