In February 2021 we are encouraging children and adults in Tower Hamlets to give up fizzy drinks during February in order to reduce their sugar intake, lose weight, save money and keep their teeth healthy.
The initiative Fizz Free February was launched by Southwark Council in 2018 in response to child and adult obesity rates in the borough. Fizzy drinks are often high in sugar, a significant factor in weight gain. Research from 2020 found that living with excess weight puts people at greater risk of serious illness from COVID-19, so #gofizzfree!
