The service began work in April 2024 as a one-year pilot, with funding from the Department of Health and Social Care. Pregnant women and families with children up to two years of age can access the service, which centres around giving babies and their families additional support in the first 1001 days of life.
There have been more than 110 referrals to Bright Beginnings so far, across four different pathways. These are: perinatal; immunisation plus; social communication; and social prescribing.
Feedback from service users has been positive. One parent said: “I think the service is excellent and is much needed to provide parents with direction in the early stages of a child’s development.”
Mary Marsh, Clinical Director for 0-19 Services, said: "We are delighted Bright Beginnings has been extended. This success is testament to the work of the whole team in delivering this service over the past 10 months. We look forward to continuing this vital work for Tower Hamlets residents in improving health outcomes for children and young people."
