Are you a keen runner? Looking for ways you can improve your overall health? Or a way to build your self-esteem and community?
This Saturday, 1 March, you're invited to join the ‘Mile End parkrun’, which is a free five-kilometre event that takes place at 9am every Saturday morning. It's a positive, welcoming, and inclusive experience where there is no time limit, and no one finishes last. Everyone is welcome to come along, whether you walk, jog, run, volunteer, or spectate.
On the day there’ll be a sign so you can spot the group runners easily. If you’d like to join the run, you can sign up for the event using the link below.
Our own Hannah Spiring [pictured right], Health Visitor, [pictured] shares her experience of parkrun as she attended last month’s 13 anniversary of the Mile End Park run on Saturday 1 February.
She said: "I have been doing parkrun on and off for the last six years, but never regularly. In 2024 I upped my steps and in October 2024, with my husband, Will, started Couch to 5k. Our aim was to get back to parkrun and being able to run the whole course.
“This picture was us at the end of our third time running parkrun this year. For me, it was my 25th Mile End parkrun as well as it being the event’s 13th birthday, so celebrations all round.
“I would really encourage parkrun or walk as a great start to the weekend. Most weeks I am able to clock up my 10,000 steps by the time we get home.”
