In-house GP surgery for young people Health Spot recently celebrated its three-year anniversary.
The event featured in-depth talks, a panel discussion, and a Q&A session with guest speakers from Spotlight, its partners, and service users.
Health Spot is an in-house GP surgery for young people aged 11-19, living in Tower Hamlets. Every Tuesday, between 4-8pm, young people can have a 15–30-minute consultation with a GP, over the phone or via video, about health needs they may be experiencing.
Health Spot works in partnership with other local services such as Docklands Outreach and Safe East to deliver comprehensive, holistic support. This collaboration is complemented by Spotlight’s rich programme of activities for young people, streamlining medical and social prescribing principles.
The Care Group’s Head of Primary Care Development, Maju Miah attended the anniversary event. He said: “The celebration was fantastic and an opportunity to hear about Health Spot’s story, its impact and learning from those involved such as health professionals and young people.”
Speaking about Health Spot’s purpose, Maju added: “Health Spot is a specialist Tower Hamlets GP Care Group Extended Access Hub specifically for young people. It is run in partnership with Spotlight – Poplar HARCA’s award-winning youth service – to make care accessible and relevant to young people’s experiences. Health Spot aims to offer the right care, in the right place, at the right time.”
