Just Say Hello to people in your community this winter

We are once again supporting the campaign to Just Say Hello in Tower Hamlets this winter.

Posted on: 20 December 2024

The campaign, run by Tower Hamlets Connect, encourages people living and working in the borough to chat with friends and neighbours, particularly those who may be lonely or isolated. This can have a positive effect on their wellbeing, and on yours, too – so if you are out and about in Tower Hamlets, remember to Just Say Hello.

Sahdia Warraich, Social Prescribing Manager at the Care Group, said: “Social isolation is a big issue and we can all make a difference by connecting with each other. Just saying hello and giving a smile can make a difference to someone’s day and help people feel less isolated. That why this campaign is so important and I would urge everybody to support it.”

We all lead busy lives, but there are still many ways to make time for small gestures of kindness and connections including:

  • Just Say Hello! Even a simple greeting can make someone feel seen and valued.
  • Make a phone call to someone you haven't spoken to in a while – stay connected.
  • Invite a friendly neighbour over for tea or coffee – build a friendship.
  • Check in on elderly relatives and friends - ensure their needs are met and they are not feeling lonely.
  • Be inclusive and welcoming - get to know people from all walks of life.
