South Asian Heritage Month 2024: ‘Free to be me’

South Asian Heritage Month is back for its fifth year. This year’s theme is ‘free to be me’.

Posted on: 26 July 2024

South Asian Heritage Month runs from 18 July to 17 August every year, aiming to amplify and celebrate British South Asian heritage and history across the United Kingdom. Through education, arts, culture and commemoration, the month helps everyone better understand the diversity of present-day Britain, improving social cohesion across the country.

People of South Asian heritage are a significant part of the British population, with around 4.5 million strong, that's around one in every 14 people in the country having South Asian heritage.

If you are interested in celebrating or learning about South Asian culture, here are some upcoming events taking place in Tower Hamlets.
