Did you know it’s Social Prescribing Day on Thursday 9 March? Tower Hamlets residents are invited to come along to the special event on the day.
Preet Johal, Social Prescribing Coordinator, said: “This event is for anyone with an interest in Social Prescribing and will include a workshop on men’s engagement with their health and wellbeing. Lunch will be provided.”
This event will introduce some of the key players in Tower Hamlets working in social prescribing and provide opportunities to learn about some of the projects currently running in the borough. It will also focus on some of the key findings from established social prescribing projects and explore the scope for greater alliance building in the borough.
Social Prescribing is a powerful tool in supporting health and wellbeing, reducing loneliness and isolation and empowering people to take part in new activities. Our Social Prescribing service helps residents connect to non-medical support to deal with social factors affecting their health and wellbeing.
In fact, between April 2021 and March 2022 about 8,500 referrals were received into the service.
