More than 60 riders from Cycle Sisters rode from London to Cambridge mosque.
The group, which is sponsored by Tower Hamlets GP Care Group, badged the event the Tour de Cycle Sisters. The ride went from east London, through the glorious Essex and Hertfordshire countryside, before arriving at Cambridge Central Mosque.
The event shared our values of inclusion and addressing health inequalities and sustainability. We hope to continue to support this and other community initiatives.
One rider who took part side: “It was with Cycle Sisters the first time I jumped on a bike. I definitely was not confident. Coming here, doing that 60 miles has definitely built up my confidence that I am able to do it.”
Another rider said: “The ride has made me realise I am capable of much more than I actually believed I was capable of. I used to be at home and feeling isolated, and when I joined this group it was so much warmth, so much love.”
Zainab Arian, Care Group CEO, said: “It was so wonderful to see many sisters who had trained over the past 12 weeks take part in this cycling event, for many it was their first time visiting Cambridge Mosque and cycling over 50 miles. Empowering more women to push themselves is just one way we are looking to support reducing health inequalities across our communities.”
