eConsult provides an online portal where patients can self-check their symptoms, and receive on the spot medical advice 24/7.
eConsult has been designed to capture the symptoms associated with over 100 common clinical conditions, with red flag sensitivity that alerts the patient to any serious signs of critical illness that require immediate medical intervention. The online form has been designed with technology that responds in real time, tailoring the questions and responses according to a patient's unique demographic.
eConsult service is offered to all GP practices in Tower Hamlets by the Tower Hamlets GP Care Group however a few GP practices are not yet using eConsult for their registered patients.
It is quite simple! Visit our practice website and click on the eConsult banner that says ‘Contact our doctors online’.
The clinician will review your response and get back to you by the end of the next working day. We will contact you by phone and/or by email.
Patients who do not have access to the internet can be asked to contact the practice on the practice telephone number.
Elderly patients who have access to the internet can use the service otherwise they can call the practice as usual on the practice telephone number.
Parents / Guardians are able to do an eConsult on behalf of their children aged six months and above. Carers/Parents will receive a call back or an appointment to close off the eConsult.
Your eConsult will be reviewed by a clinician and if you need to be seen you will be given an appointment.
This happens when a patient reports symptoms that suggest they are too unwell for the eConsult system. Please follow your normal practice procedure for issuing out appointments.
Please have a look in the patients notes to see if someone has recorded a failed attempt and speak to the team to understand what went wrong and advice the patient accordingly.
Please refer to the eConsult guide on how to attach it to the patients record.
The Single Point of Access co-ordinates referrals from Health Care Professionals for Tower Hamlets house bound adult patients who require the services of the Community Health Teams (nursing & therapies).
This service also takes messages for the Community Health Teams from health care professionals, patients and their family or carers.
